Right now in Sydney we appear to be in the midst of some kind of weather event that consists of rain, rain and more rain. It appears to be never-ending… I am seeing at least 5 days of it coming in the forecast. Now there are people experiencing tsunamis right now so I am not going to sit here and complain about some long periods of rain but it does change a few things about the way I’m thinking about dressing. Here are some tips.

Pants – (nothing too fitted)

I think when it’s raining and you get a bit wet running into the office, you don’t want pants that will be stuck to you. You want ones that will dry and get some air in and around them as you sit at your desk with your coffee debriefing about last nights Too Much.

A Rainproof Jacket (hoods can’t hurt)

Handy rubber soled shoes

You need a shoe that looks great but that you can slosh through puddles in. Your fine leather sling-backs will have their moment in the sun in just a month or so. Leave them where they belong, in your nice warm cupboard and bust out some bolshy rain kickers.

A Quality Knit for Layering

Yes it’s cold but it’s definitely not freezing, and most offices are pretty warm, non? So I think one does best in the rain when one layers. Keep yourself relatively dry in the outdoors and once you’re inside be able to strip off to some chic, unsoaked layers. A shirt under a knit works well I think. And of course there’s a layer of warmth for that inevitable freezing cold meeting room…
