Long term UK Voguettes will know Lucinda, she was the Fashion Director for 25 years, (Chambers worked for Vogue for 36 years in total) and has also worked for brands like Prada and Marni. She has since co-founded a shoppable curated site called Collagerie with fellow ex-Voguer Serena Hood and launched a fashion label Colville in 2018.
There are many things to get excited about when it comes to Lucinda’s style… but essentially, she puts clothes together so beautifully and creatively. It’s actually a pleasure to look at her in her clothing. And as someone who is teetering very inelegantly on the precipice of letting my own hair go grey, Chambers’ hair is something to behold. Cool, fun, low-key and chic in equal measure.
As one might say in the corporate parlance, the key takeaways from her looks are:
- Don’t be afraid of some multi length layering (socks, leggings/pants, dress, jacket all in one hit)
- Investigate some print clashes
- Comfort needn’t come at the cost of style, it just requires a little creativity
- Scour your local vintage stores (or the back of your wardrobe) for ethnic inspired prints. These might not have worked for you previously when you tried them on with a pair of black pants, but it just might now with a touch of multi-print-layering inspired by Lucinda.
Please enjoy some of my favourite Lucinda Chambers looks.
